ABOUT BRISTOL

Bristol is a city straddling the River Avon & River Frome enveloped in the hills of South West England. Bristol is located just 120 miles west of London and is the largest city in the South West, with Bath Spa nearby and South Wales 45 miles away across the Severn Estuary. As one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, Bristol has been selected as one of the world’s top 10 cities (2009), the best city to live in (2014 & 2017), and has also won the EU’s European Green Capital Award (2015).

Bristol is well-known for it’s unmistakeable identity and prosperous maritime history, with the Harbourside situated in it’s former city-centre port. Bristol has been a wealthy trading port since the Roman era, and the city played an important role in England’s maritime trade in tobacco, wine, cotton and more.

Today, it is described as a buzzing multi-cultural city of 400,000 people, which has theatres in breweries, art galleries in toilets and secret bars beneath Indian restaurants. Bristol is a cultural hub of creativity and a hotbed of artists and activists. It is the creator of Ribena, the home of world-renowned street artist Banksy and the UK’s first cycling city!
